IX-T can be either stand-alone or a LR plug-in. It does a good job with X-trans files and it's a great program overall.īetter than LR in several ways imo. Personally I switched to Capture One about a year ago and I don't regret it one bit. I do however believe these issues are fixed or at least become mitigated with the new "enhance details" feature. Worms: Caused by applying too much sharpening and gives you a worm-like pattern across the entire photo. The watercolor effect: Caused by poor demosaicing and gives foliage and other more complex texture a smeared painter look.

Download some sample raws and try them out if you would really like to see. If you are a dedicated pixel peeper, you may find things different.

I have found it to be not worth learning new software and migrating 10 years of lr catalog over to something else. Use a lower radius and more strength and you will be fine. Lightroom Classic: Fuji X-T3 Some images can not make AdjustmentsĪlso, sharpening is a little different with x-trans sensors. It apparently is how lr demosaics the raf files.

I will apply lr adjustments and then run it through x-transformer if I a planning on viewing full size or printing large.

However, it's trivial to install iridient x-transformer, which will create a dng out of a raf file, with excellent sharpness. In certain instances, there can be some lack of sharpness and worms in foliage. For the majority of things it's just fine. That has improved signifigantly in later versions and there are additional tools in the latest version of lightroom that further corrects this. LR originally did a poor job of rendering fuji raw files. I come across statements about Lightroom not working with Fuji X-trans sensors, about how capture oNe is so much better etc. I'm a fairly committed Lightroom user I really do not want to start learning a new program, its taken me years to properly get to grips with Lightroom and I also use it to catalogue my image collection. I have found ID to be good too, but I feel that C1 is even better and also does it all in one place.I'm thinking of getting a Fuji XT3.

It seems to me to be markedly different to my past experience. Thanks, jedorme, for sharing your experience. It is an excellent RAW converter for Fuji X files once you figure out its various settings for sharpness, etc.

But if I were to want to continue to use LR, then my choice would be to use Iridient with it. I've been a longtime LR user, now with the latest version in the subscription model classic, not cloud.

I can't imagine what you're doing to see significantly worse results. If I want to make a decent print I use Iridient to 'de-mosaic', but LR hasn't been much of a problem for a while with improvements rather than regression since the old stand-alone version, and so far I see no difference with the XT3 files. Last edited: Dec 11, As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Charzes44Dec 11, I've been using Lightroom for years, and have been on the Classic CC for a while, using it with an Xpro2 as well as a Nikon and old Sony files and for a month with an X-T3. The light conditions will make a difference and what I have found is that different RAW processors behave differently in different light conditions. I admit the only pictures I've taken were in less than optimal lighting in Iceland a couple of weeks ago but even so the difference is significant. These are very early impressions and I wonder if anyone else is noticing this? People have been saying LR is pretty much good now, but not so far for me. So far my initial results have been massively improved by this software. Today I tried using the free Fuji Express C1.

However, I am really not at all happy with the results of this version of LR with my camera.įor the first time painterly effects, horrible skin look either weird, papery textures or smoothed to the point of idiocyand very noticeable "wormy" things on smooth areas at higher ISO are appearing in my pictures. However, this has all changed with the XT3. I thought it was all pixel-peeping madness.
